The StoryPlay Program
Is it Storytime? Children's theater? Playtime? YOU Decide!
StoryPlay is as limitless and creative as a child's imagination! This program is designed so that children of all ages and levels of ability can personally take part in a storytelling activity by creating characters and making up their own lines in an interactive adventure led by our facilitator/storyteller. Any child old enough to talk can participate because no reading or writing skills are required. Children choose their roles and may decorate paper masks for their characters, then the facilitator begins telling a madcap tale and cues the performers when it is time to deliver their lines. The storyteller's prompts, such as "And the monster made a noise that sounded like..." or "But my mom didn't believe me, so she said..." continue until the tale is guided to its ultimate conclusion.
It may sound complicated, but virtually any child can successfully take part in this activity due to the clever scripting by Jason Edwards, author of Will Allen and the Great Monster Detective and its upcoming sequel, Will Allen and the Ring of Terror.
The program can accommodate a wide variety of age groups and numbers of participants, and lasts approx. 45 minutes.
